On 23rd of July 2018 Erasmus Huis organized a jazz-fusion concert with headline jazz group ‘Jungle By Night’ from The Netherlands.

Eight years ago, Jungle by Night grew popular as those nine young lads from Amsterdam who played infectious instrumental music. Growing up and traveling the world, more sources of inspiration crossed their paths, enriching their music.

Jungle by Night have performed at the immense Fuji Rock in Japan and played at Montreal Jazz, the biggest jazz festival in Canada. They headlined shows in New York City, while France is considered as their second home and Turkey is also no longer unknown territory. In The Netherlands, Jungle by Night is a household name at all the major festivals like Lowlands, North Sea Jazz, Pitch, Down The Rabbit Hole, you name it.

It will be the first time for Jungle By Night to visit Indonesia!

Volunteers with Jungle By Night

The 800 capacity venue ‘Graha Bhakti Budaya’, at Taman Ismail Marzuki was completely filled with enthusiastic crowd! After welcoming words from Mr. Markus Huppe from INMEWO and Mrs. Joyce Nijssen from the Erasmus Huis (Dutch Embassy), the Indonesian band ‘Percussion Experimental’ kicked off the show with marvelous tunes and compositions mixing traditional Indonesian instruments and modern day instruments. After a quick change-over ‘Jungle By Night’ took over and literally turned the seated theater over into a dance floor, presenting groovy-funky-jazzy tunes. As finale both ‘Percussion Experimental’ and ‘Jungle By Night’ collaborated with powerful jam-sessions.
